30 Ways for Muslims to encounter Christ

Islam teaches that deception under certain circumstances is acceptable and the effects of this teaching breeds mistrust—of God and of others. But the Bible tells us “Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator” (Colossians 3:9-10). Pray for people in Nashville to be people who pursue truth and feel conviction about deceiving others.

Liberty to the Captives

Each of us who comes to Christ must repent of and renounce every pact, promise, or identity we held before faith in Christ. Join us in praying for our brothers and sisters in Christ from a Muslim background as they repent of their former identity as Muslims. This prayer is inspired by chapter 7 and 8 of Liberty to the Captives by Mark Durie

Pray for Christians from a Muslim background in Nashville to trust that God is unchanging and faithful in his relationships. He always keeps his word.

“God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?” (Numbers 23:19).

Praying Scripture

“Then Moses said, “If you don’t personally go with us, don’t make us leave this place. How will anyone know that you look favorably on me—on me and on your people—if you don’t go with us? For your presence among us sets your people and me apart from all other people on the earth” (Exodus 33:15-16).

Pray that emerging streams would host His presence as they devote themselves to prayer.
Pray that God’s presence with believers in Nashville would draw men and women to the true King.

Praying for the Church

Pray that Christians in Nashville will have vision and urgency to see all parts of their country reached with the gospel.

Claiming Our Hope in Christ and His Heart for the Nations

Lord, help us to release control and allow your Holy Spirit to build your church. We pray, Father, for grace to raise up new generations of leaders; grace to refuse a spirit of control; grace to resist the love of ego and our ‘little kingdoms’; grace to embrace the way of Jesus.

Lord, make Christians in Nashville more like Paul, who poured out his life like a drink offering, who labored and toiled for his spiritual children. Give them the grace that was on his life to establish self-sustaining gospel communities. And Lord, as leaders of emerging movements imitate Christ, allow new facilitators and new leaders to imitate them. In this way, Lord, may your church sustain itself: disciples making disciples, leaders raising up leaders, groups starting groups, and churches planting churches.

PRAISE

“I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the [Nashville] nations.” (Psalm 108:3)

KINGDOM COME

[ The Parable of the Pearl of Great Value ] “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it.” (Matthew 13:45-46)

Thank you for every man and woman in Nashville who have found you to be the pearl of great price. We pray their valuing and treasuring of you, would lead many others to enter your Kingdom.

PRAY THE BOOK OF ACTS

“Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord, together with his entire household. And many of the Corinthians hearing Paul believed and were baptized.” (Acts 18:8) We pray for many religious leaders in Nashville to believe in You, together with their entire households, and may it lead to entire neighborhoods of the city and other counties in Tennessee being reached with the Gospel.

PRAY THE HALL OF FAITH

“By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that the child was beautiful, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.” (Hebrews 11:23)  Thank you, Lord, for the example of Moses’ parents. We pray for believers in Nashville to fear God more than they fear anyone or anything else.

PRAYER

Father, we pray for believers in Nashville to know areas they can pray for others, like the BLESS Prayer Pattern. https://zume.training/the-bless-prayer-pattern/

PRAISE

[Nashville] “Nations will fear the name of the Lord, and all the kings of the earth will fear your glory.” (Psalm 102:15)

KINGDOM COME

[ The Parable of the Hidden Treasure ] “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.” (Matthew 13:44)

We pray for many today to see you for the treasure you are. We pray for Nashville in every segment of society to joyfully give up all they have in order to gain you.

PRAY THE BOOK OF ACTS

“And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and their boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each of us…” (Acts 17:26-27) We confess your sovereignty in the midst of the uncertainties in Nashville brought on by the coronavirus. We pray, Father, that you would use these circumstances to draw many in Nashville to yourself.

PRAY THE HALL OF FAITH

“By faith Joseph, at the end of his life, made mention of the exodus of the Israelites and gave directions concerning his bones.” (Hebrews 11:22) We pray for believers in Nashville to be so certain of your promises, that they would have foresight now to prepare for the day when there are multiplying churches in every neighborhood in the city by training and equipping all believers in scalable ways.

PRAYER

God, we pray for believers in Nashville to know what a person of peace is, and where to find one. https://zume.training/a-person-of-peace-and-how-to-find-one/

PRAISE

“The Lord has made known his salvation; he has revealed his righteousness in the sight of the [Nashville] nations.” (Psalm 98:2)

KINGDOM COME

“He told them another parable. “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven that a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, till it was all leavened.” (Matthew 13:33)

Thank you Lord that you delight in using simple, ordinary people to display your glory. May this kind of yeast rapidly grow throughout every place in Nashville.

PRAY THE BOOK OF ACTS

“The Lord opened her [Lydia’s] heart to pay attention to what was said by Paul. And after she was baptized, and her household as well…” (Acts 16:14-15) “And he [the Philippian jailer] took them the same hour of the night and washed their wounds; and he was baptized at once, he and all his family.” (Acts 16:33) Please, repeat Lydia and the Philippian jailer’s stories over and over again in every neighborhood of Nashville.

PRAY THE HALL OF FAITH

“By faith Jacob, when dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, bowing in worship over the head of his staff.”  (Hebrews 11:21)  May every believer in Nashville have spiritual children that they can, by faith, impart the same blessing to – that there may be a multitude of multiplying disciples in the city. (Genesis 49:16)

PRAYER

God, we pray for believers in Nashville to know how to pray for others, even as they walk around. https://zume.training/prayer-walking/
